Scandal! has been going strong since 2005 and has been growing and thriving at Sasani Studios for the last seventeen years. Scandal! is broadcast at 19:30 daily on e.tv and is produced by Ochre Media.

Scandal! is as fast-paced and diverse as the city it is set in. Resonating with the heartbeat of Johannesburg, it is a melting pot of urban society and showcases characters from all walks of life, along with a plethora of local languages. Scandal! is all about high-stakes betrayals, nail-biting mysteries, heart-warming love stories, relatable family dramas, hilarious day-to-day blunders and scandalous unions.

Skeem Saam

The popular Skeem Saam is housed in Stage 8. It’s a youth drama turned soap opera, and features three teenagers who deal with difficult contradictions as they find their way through adulthood in Turfloop.

Synopsis:

Thandiswa, a call-girl, receives a call-out from a client, but she is indisposed.  She sends her twin sister Xoliswa, who is received by morally corrupt men who rape and subsequently murder her in a ritual killing.

Thandiswa uproots her life in Yeoville and sets off with Mpendulo, her teenage son to a place called EMNYAMENI. Thandiswa is here to target her sister’s killers. Three powerful men, who are bound by an unbreakable allegiance – a ritual rooted in dark magic, UKUTHAKATHA – and in order to maintain their power, they have to perform an annual ritual of human sacrifice.

Diepe Waters is a thrilling telenovela about love, secrets, intrigue and plans of revenge taking place within the relentless world of competitive swimming. The show started its first broadcast on 3 October 2022 on DSTV Channel 144, KykNET. And airs 4 nights a week at 18h30. This Afrikaans show about the Swart Marlyne Swim club, is produced by Penguin Films.

Penguin Films is a multi-generational, award-winning film and television production company that has achieved decades of success. This was not the first Penguin Films show making use of Sasani Studios and was an obvious choice when Diepe Waters moved in on 16 May 2022.

Diepe Waters films in two Sasani Studios and various locations around Johannesburg. Although the cast and crew travel all over Johannesburg to film, they still call Sasani their home. “Sasani has everything we need and more!” Apart from the world class, sound-proof studios, Penguin Films also makes use of various offices, makeup rooms, a catering area and dressing rooms at these premises.
